Tanzania and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar through the e-Government
Agency (eGAZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Office of
the President’s Monitoring and Performance Management Bureau.
According
to a statement issued on Wednesday, the agreement will focus on Networking and
Digital Systems, where Vodacom will assist the Government in enhancing its
communication systems and embracing digital operations across various sectors
to align with the current world of Science and Technology, thereby accelerating
development and the swift provision of diverse services.

“One of
the priorities of the Eighth Phase Government under the leadership of His
Excellency the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council,
Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, is the realm of ICT and Digital Systems. Today's step
has been reached after the PDB started monitoring and overseeing this matter.
PDB will also continue to track the implementation of its future steps to
achieve the intended goals,” the statement noted.

It then stated that while the PDB continues to expedite
progress in other priority areas of the Government, it will also ensure that
the field of Technology is equally well-managed in its implementation.
