Kenya’s
leading ride-hailing app, Uber and mobile network giant, Safaricom Plc have partnered to roll out a groundbreaking initiative that will allow riders all
over Kenya to pay for their trips using M-PESA.

According
to Safaricom on it social media Linkedin post, this new initiative which
promises to revolutionize digital trips in the country will enabled seamless
M-PESA payments for deliveries and earnings.
“The
collaboration is especially set to benefit drivers who lack bank accounts, with
Uber’s data showing that about 20% of drivers on the platform do not have bank
accounts and therefore lack the opportunity to fully leverage digital trips,”
it said.
“We
maintain a strong commitment to working with partners such as Uber as they
enable us to deliver more value and opportunities to our customers in line with
our purpose to transform lives,” added Safaricom.
In
addition, Uber will also offer its delivery and driver partners M-PESA as a
more affordable option for receiving their payments. The partnership further underlines M-PESA as the
country's most preferred option for cashless payments.
