Mozambique’s Communications
Regulatory Authority (INCM) and the Foundation for Business Competitiveness
(FUNDEC) are exploring opportunities for cooperation to strengthen digital
connectivity, improve business competitiveness and support economic development.
The two institutions held a
meeting on Tuesday, October 27, at INCM’s premises, led by the Chairman of the
Board of Directors, Helena Fernandes, and FUNDEC’s delegation leader, Agostinho
Vuma, to assess possibilities for mutual collaboration.
The proposed partnership
could cover studies and economic analysis platforms to support decision-making,
business connectivity, the digital economy, technological platforms, artificial
intelligence, digital sovereignty, economic intelligence and evaluation of the
postal sector’s contribution to the economy.
The meeting highlighted the
convergence of interests between the two institutions regarding the importance
of digital connectivity for business competitiveness and economic development.
During the engagement, INCM
presented its regulatory, statistical and cartographic instruments, alongside
investments and initiatives underway to develop the communications sector.
The institutions also
explored how FUNDEC’s studies could support a deeper assessment of the use of
connectivity and its economic and social impact, particularly on businesses and
communities covered by initiatives to expand communication services in rural
areas.
Such cooperation could
contribute to a better understanding of the benefits generated by investments
in connectivity and help identify opportunities for improvement.
INCM also shared details of
its ongoing projects, emphasising efforts to expand access to communication
services and improve service quality, particularly in rural areas.
The initiatives aim to widen
access, benefit citizens and contribute to economic dynamism.
