The International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) has supported efforts to strengthen the
monitoring and evaluation of Malaysia’s national cybersecurity strategy,
focusing on mechanisms to assess implementation and measure progress against
strategic objectives.
The ITU Regional Office for
Asia and the Pacific contributed to a workshop led by Malaysia’s National Cyber
Security Agency during CyberDSA 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.
The workshop focused on
developing the monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the Malaysia Cyber
Security Strategy (MCSS) 2025–2030.
During the engagement, ITU
shared perspectives on monitoring the implementation of national cybersecurity
strategies, highlighting the importance of aligning strategic objectives with
measurable outcomes, identifying appropriate indicators and establishing
mechanisms to assess progress over time.
The discussions highlighted
how effective monitoring and evaluation can support evidence-based
implementation, strengthen accountability and enable stakeholders to adapt
activities in response to evolving cybersecurity needs.
ITU said it looked forward
to continuing its collaboration with Malaysia to support the effective
implementation of national cybersecurity priorities and strengthen cyber
resilience.
