Kenya and Microsoft have
discussed opportunities to deepen their technology partnership, with a focus on
digital skilling, cross-border data flows, policy coherence and global
technology governance ahead of the fourth Responsible Artificial Intelligence in
the Military Domain (REAIM) Summit, which Kenya will host in Nairobi in April
2027.
Kenya’s Special Envoy on
Technology, Ambassador Philip Thigo, said he met with Microsoft Vice President
and Deputy General Counsel for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Jeff
Bullwinkel, Head of Government Affairs for Africa Akua Gyekye, and Government Affairs
Director for Kenya and East Africa Malcolm Kijirah to discuss opportunities for
continued collaboration.
Thigo said Microsoft had
been a valued partner to Kenya in digital skilling, cross-border data flows,
policy coherence and global technology governance, including the REAIM process.
The discussions also focused
on expanding opportunities for Kenyan talent and enterprise and strengthening
the policy environment for investment and innovation.
“We look forward to
deepening these partnerships, expanding opportunities for Kenyan talent and
enterprise, and strengthening the policy environment for investment and
innovation,” Thigo said.
He also expressed
appreciation for Microsoft’s continued partnership and confidence in Kenya as a
premier African hub for technology and innovation.
