African Telecommunications Union (ATU) Secretary General John Omo has highlighted the importance of protecting satellite resources that remain central to connectivity and access across Africa during the 42nd Meeting of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) in Washington, D.C.

John Omo is participating in the ITSO meeting this week, where his opening statement reflected on Africa’s longstanding engagement with the organisation and the continued importance of satellite resources to connectivity on the continent.

The Assembly also recognised representatives from Nigeria, Uganda and South Africa for their contributions to the work of ITSO.

The three representatives were pictured with John Omo and ITSO Director General Dr Renata Brazil David, highlighting Africa’s presence at AP-42 and its continuing contribution to the organisation.

The meeting provides a platform for member states and stakeholders to engage on issues relating to international telecommunications satellite cooperation, with Africa continuing to participate in discussions concerning satellite connectivity and access.
