Nilesat and Eutelsat discuss partnership in space communications

Nilesat and Eutelsat have discussed prospects for strengthening strategic cooperation in space communications, including satellite projects, frequency management, digital infrastructure and commercial coordination.

The discussions took place in Paris on September 14, 2026, during a bilateral meeting between General Sameh Katta, Chairman and CEO of the Egyptian Satellite Company Nilesat, and Jean-François Fallacher, Chief Executive Officer of Eutelsat, on the sidelines of Satellite Week Business.

The meeting focused on opportunities to enhance cooperation and strategic partnership between the two companies across areas of mutual interest, with the two sides exploring ways to integrate their expertise and technical capabilities.

Nilesat and Eutelsat also discussed strengthening technical and operational coordination, including mechanisms for cooperation in frequency management and related rights. The companies said such coordination could contribute to the optimal utilisation of available space resources.

The two sides reviewed potential satellite projects and explored opportunities to integrate satellite technologies with digital infrastructure technologies. Discussions also covered the Nilesat Data Center project, which could open new avenues for cooperation in communications and digital services.

Commercial coordination was another area of focus, with the companies examining ways to provide competitive services to customers, improve the utilisation of available capacity on both sides and maximise its commercial benefits.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue and coordination in the coming period and translating the areas discussed into practical steps.

The companies said further cooperation would support the Nilesat-Eutelsat partnership while strengthening their competitiveness in the regional and international space communications market.

The Nilesat delegation included Dr Mohamed Abdelghany, Head of the Space Sector, and Eng. Shams El-Din Mahmoud, Manager of the Chairman’s Office for Technical Affairs and Strategic Planning. The Eutelsat delegation included José Ignacio González-Núñez, SVP Americas, Video Business Unit, and Americ Venty, Head of Video Business Unit.
