Telecom has awarded internship certificates to students and teachers from the
top 15 schools that participated in the Learn-AI.School Innovation Challenge
2026, following the successful completion of a two-week artificial intelligence
internship programme.
The
initiative provided participants with practical exposure to the application of
AI in a real business environment, allowing them to learn how Mauritius Telecom
integrates artificial intelligence across its operations while interacting with
company teams and industry professionals.
The
certificate presentation ceremony was held on July 31 at Telecom Tower and
brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education, Mauritius
Telecom and technology partners. Among those present were Acting Assistant
Director for E-Education and Technical Education, Preetam Mohitram, ICT Manager
at the Ministry of Education, Ashvina Fowdur-Parboteeah, Mauritius Telecom
Chief Executive Officer Veemal Gungadin, and Dayforce Head of Finance Khooshal
Mussai.
During
the programme, participants explored AI tools, gained insights into the
company's operations and engaged with professionals working in the technology
sector. The internship was designed to bridge the gap between classroom
learning and practical industry experience while equipping students and
teachers with a deeper understanding of emerging AI technologies.
Mauritius
Telecom said the initiative forms part of its efforts to support digital
education and prepare young people with the skills required for an increasingly
AI-driven economy.
