Eswatini has officially
launched its National Addressing Standard, a move aimed at strengthening
digital transformation, improving public service delivery and creating new
opportunities for economic development.
The initiative, led jointly
by the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology and the Ministry
of Housing and Urban Development, introduces the Eswatini National Addressing
Standard (SZN S ISO 19160), providing a structured framework for addressing
systems across the country.
Speaking at the launch,
Minister of Information, Communications and Technology, Savannah Maziya said a
functional and inclusive national addressing system is a foundation for
improved service delivery, emergency response, financial inclusion and modern
land administration.
She noted that the standard
will also support the growth of e-commerce by enabling businesses to reach
customers more efficiently and allowing entrepreneurs to participate more
effectively in local, regional and global markets.
Maziya emphasised that
government initiatives must deliver measurable benefits to citizens by
supporting economic growth, creating jobs, improving service delivery and
promoting a more inclusive digital society.
The Minister commended the
collaboration between the ICT Ministry and the Eswatini Water and Agricultural
Development Enterprise (ESWASA) in advancing the initiative, as well as the
cooperation from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
