Entlaq, in collaboration with Vodafone Egypt and GIZ Egypt, has convened the second closed-door policy roundtable in a multi-stakeholder series focused on artificial intelligence and data governance, with discussions centred on fiber connectivity infrastructure, market structure and AI readiness in Egypt.

The roundtable brought together policymakers, regulators, telecom operators, technology leaders, infrastructure experts and development partners to examine key challenges and opportunities shaping Egypt’s digital future. Discussions focused on how to expand fiber infrastructure and improve broadband penetration, strengthen network resilience, reduce single points of failure, and ensure that connectivity systems are adequately positioned to support the country’s ambitions in AI, cloud computing and data centre development.

Participants also considered governance and regulatory frameworks required to balance investment incentives, market competition and long-term national digital development objectives.

The dialogue highlighted Egypt’s progress in the digital sector, including its position as Africa’s fastest-growing fixed broadband market and its role as a key global connectivity corridor. At the same time, stakeholders emphasized the need to further strengthen infrastructure readiness to support the next phase of digital transformation.

Insights and recommendations from the session are expected to contribute to ongoing policy development efforts aimed at strengthening evidence-based decision-making and enhancing collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Organisers expressed appreciation to all participants for their contributions, as well as to Vodafone Egypt and GIZ for their continued support in advancing structured dialogue on Egypt’s digital economy and AI governance agenda.
