Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi has announced the formal commencement of a transition process aimed at guiding the South African Post Office South African Post Office out of business rescue, following the convening of its newly appointed board alongside Business Rescue Practitioners.

The meeting marked the operational kickoff of a structured organisational reset intended to stabilise the state-owned entity and reposition it for long-term sustainability. According to the minister, the newly constituted board will play a central role in driving reform efforts, particularly in advancing private sector partnerships designed to strengthen operational capacity and financial viability.

The transition process forms part of broader government efforts, coordinated through the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, to restore reliable universal postal and courier services while addressing long-standing structural and financial challenges within the organisation.

Authorities have indicated that the reform agenda will prioritise efficiency improvements, governance restructuring, and strategic collaborations aimed at modernising service delivery and ensuring the postal service can meet evolving national demand.
