Safaricom
Ethiopia has successfully conducted its annual Hackathon, themed Hack World Cup
2026, at its headquarters for the third consecutive year, bringing together
employees from across business units to showcase innovative ideas supporting
business growth and transformation.
This year's
competition featured four categories: Purpose, Simplicity, Customer, and
Growth. Participants were challenged to develop solutions addressing real-world
challenges, enhancing customer experiences, improving operational efficiency,
and unlocking new opportunities for growth.
Employees
pitched their ideas to senior leadership, demonstrating the creativity,
ingenuity, and entrepreneurial mindset that continue to drive innovation within
the company, according to Safaricom Ethiopia.
The Hack World
Cup platform is designed to foster a culture of innovation, encourage
cross-functional collaboration, and empower employees to transform ideas into
impactful business solutions. The competition extends beyond individual
markets, bringing together teams from eight Vodacom and Safaricom markets.
Following the
market final, Safaricom Ethiopia's winning teams will advance to the African
Finale in South Africa, where they will represent the local market and compete
against finalists from across the group.
