The Nigerian team,
identified as “Error,” has emerged victorious in the 2026 ECOWAS Regional
Hackathon, securing a cash prize of $10,000 at the conclusion of the regional
cybersecurity competition.
The event brought together
young cybersecurity professionals and innovators from across West Africa to
test their technical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and resilience in
addressing emerging digital security challenges within the ECOWAS region.
At the closing ceremony, the
Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), Mr. Divine Selease
Agbeti, commended all participating teams for their outstanding performance and
commitment to strengthening cybersecurity across their respective countries.
He noted that the
participants demonstrated exceptional technical competence and a shared
dedication to building a more resilient and secure digital ecosystem for the
region.
The ECOWAS Regional
Hackathon continues to serve as a platform for nurturing cybersecurity talent
and fostering collaboration among member states in response to evolving cyber
threats and the growing importance of digital trust in West Africa’s digital transformation
agenda.
