Telecom Namibia and Angola’s Gabinete de Gestão do Programa Espacial Nacional (GGPEN) have signed a Pilot Commercial Agreement for the utilisation of the Angosat-2 satellite platform, marking a new phase in regional satellite connectivity cooperation.

The agreement was signed during ANGOTIC 2026 in Luanda, Angola, on 11 June 2026, by Telecom Namibia Chief Executive Officer Dr. Stanley Shanapinda and GGPEN Director General Dr. Zolana João.

The partnership transitions from a successful proof-of-concept phase into a structured pilot project aimed at assessing the operational performance and commercial viability of services delivered through the Angosat-2 satellite.

According to both parties, the initiative is expected to enhance digital connectivity in remote and underserved areas, while also supporting critical economic sectors that rely on reliable communications infrastructure.

The collaboration further underscores growing regional efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure and expand satellite-based connectivity across Southern Africa, with a focus on improving access, resilience, and cross-border cooperation in the telecommunications sector.
