The Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin has reiterated the need to strengthen women’s representation in leadership roles within the global digital ecosystem during a Network of Women breakfast held on the sidelines of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council meeting.

The engagement brought together stakeholders committed to advancing gender equality in the technology and telecommunications sectors, with a focus on increasing women’s participation in decision-making spaces ahead of the upcoming Plenipotentiary Conference.

Bogdan-Martin emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration through the Network of Women initiative to drive progress toward a more inclusive digital future. She highlighted the role of partnerships in supporting women’s leadership and ensuring broader representation across global digital governance platforms.

The event was hosted with the support of Canada Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, with participants acknowledging ongoing efforts by governments, institutions, and industry leaders to promote equity in the digital space.
