The
Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has continued to reinforce
collaborative efforts aimed at expanding the country’s digital footprint,
highlighting the impact of its Registrar Incentive Scheme during the ICANN 84
meeting in Dublin, Ireland.
The
scheme, which was introduced in the third quarter of 2024, was developed to
reward innovation, drive adoption, and accelerate growth within the .ng domain
ecosystem. According to NiRA, registrars remain central partners in driving
country code top-level domain expansion, and the incentive model is already
drawing global industry attention for its structured and results-driven
approach.
During
its engagements in Dublin, the NiRA team held a strategic meeting with the HELP
Registry, a global organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing ccTLD
registry operations. Discussions focused on evaluating new methods, tools, and
best practices that could scale and sustain the incentive model to support
long-term registrar competitiveness and improve .ng performance and reach.
NiRA
emphasized that strengthening such partnerships forms part of its broader
mission to build a resilient, secure, and innovation-led .ng domain space that
supports Nigeria’s digital economy ambitions and future growth.
