South Africa hosts G20 Bioeconomy Initiative Meetings to advance sustainable development

The G20 Initiative on Bioeconomy Meetings has commenced with a focus on advancing sustainable development through international collaboration and innovation. The meetings bring together global experts and stakeholders to address pressing challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainable resource management.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Mmampei Chaba, Chief Director of Multilateral Cooperation and Africa at the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, emphasized the critical role of partnerships and knowledge exchange in unlocking opportunities within the bioeconomy.

She highlighted the potential of bioeconomic strategies to drive inclusive growth and foster innovative solutions for global sustainability.

The meetings aim to strengthen international cooperation and develop actionable strategies to harness the bioeconomy for environmental resilience and economic advancement.
