M-PESA Africa
participated in the third edition of the M-PESA FinTalks Conference, hosted by
Vodafone M-PESA in Maputo under the theme “Financial Inclusion as a Pillar for
Generational Transition and Sustainable Self-Employment.” The event brought
together leaders from government, financial institutions, NGOs, academia, and
the private sector to explore innovative pathways to inclusive finance.

Key
representatives from M-PESA Africa included Felix Kamenga, Chief Commercial
Officer, and Isaac Kibere, Executive Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs. The
conference was organized in partnership with Financial Sector Deepening
Moçambique (FSDMoç), the Mozambique Fintech Association, GSMA, German
Development Cooperation (giz), Vodacom Foundation, and New Faces New Voices
(NFNV).
During a
high-level panel, Mr. Kamenga noted that the future of financial inclusion
relies not only on technology but on building trust, collaboration, and
innovation across all stakeholders.
The event
featured showcases of innovative solutions within the M-PESA ecosystem,
including Solar Gas Energy’s biogas kits, the WE FINANCE CODE program for women
entrepreneurs, and M-PESA Txova, an automatic microcredit service.

A highlight of
the conference was the FINCKATHON, which showcased student-developed solutions
addressing financial inclusion challenges. Four winning projects—M-Guia,
Procura Já, M-Loda, and M-Djo—will undergo incubation with the goal of
integration into the M-PESA ecosystem, further expanding access to digital
financial services.
