The Republic of
Guinea has secured a seat on the Postal Operations Council (POC) of the
Universal Postal Union (UPU), marking the country’s first election to the body
since joining the UPU in 1959. The milestone vote took place on Thursday,
September 18, 2025, during the 28th UPU Congress in Dubai.

The Honourable
Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, and the Digital Economy, Rose Pola
Pricemou, celebrated the achievement as a testament to Guinea’s dedicated
efforts to modernize its postal sector under the vision of the nation’s
leadership. This election reflects broad international recognition of Guinea’s
progress and its growing role in shaping global postal standards and
innovation.

The Postal
Operations Council is responsible for setting technical, operational, and
technological standards for international postal services, playing a vital role
in the development and efficiency of worldwide postal systems.
