The Ministry of
Digital Economy and Innovation (MDENI) of the Republic of Djibouti has signed a
Memorandum of Understanding with Visa Inc., marking a significant milestone in
the nation's "Smart Nation" digital transformation roadmap. The agreement
was formalized this month, following a meeting between Her Excellency Minister
Mariam Hamadou Ali and a high-level delegation from Visa and TECH5.

The delegation
included senior executives from both companies, including the Vice-President
and Regional Head of Government Solutions for the CEMEA Zone at Visa, the
President-CEO of TECH5, and other key officials. The three-day official visit
culminated in the signing of the MoU, which establishes a framework for
launching the National Digital Wallet ("Smart Wallet") project.
This initiative
will enable citizens and residents to access public services, conduct digital
payments, and utilize digital identity solutions within a secure and inclusive
environment.

The partnership
underscores Djibouti's commitment to promoting a sustainable digital economy,
expanding financial inclusion, accelerating digital governance, and
contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
