In a powerful demonstration of youth-led climate action, two riders will be flagged off on a monumental expedition from Nairobi to Belém, Brazil, ahead of the COP30 climate conference. The event, known as ‘Cycle COP30 – Wheels for Climate,’ will be officiated by Amb. Ali Mohamed, Kenya’s Special Envoy for Climate Change.

The ambitious 15,500-kilometer journey on electric bicycles aims to amplify the voices of communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis and document grassroots adaptation strategies across Africa.

This initiative showcases the potential of sustainable mobility, powered by renewable energy, to bridge continents and inspire global climate solutions. The riders will carry with them stories of resilience, innovation, and adaptation from the communities they traverse, with the objective of delivering these narratives to influence the global dialogue at the COP30 summit.

The mission also seeks to mobilise crucial partnerships, funding, and endorsements to strengthen Africa’s leadership and position in the global climate transition.
