The African
Telecommunications Union (ATU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with
the National Agency for Universal Telecommunications Service (ANSUT) to
strengthen collaborative efforts aimed at expanding universal access to
connectivity across the continent. The agreement signals a shared commitment to
bridging the digital divide and ensuring meaningful connectivity reaches
underserved communities.
The partnership
builds on a foundation of aligned priorities between the two organizations,
with a focus on supporting member states in implementing practical and scalable
interventions. The collaboration will prioritize the development of inclusive,
affordable, and sustainable digital infrastructure to drive socio-economic
progress and digital inclusion.
Through this
MoU, ATU and ANSUT aim to enhance their cooperation in designing and executing
initiatives that promote universal access, particularly in marginalized areas.
The agreement underscores the urgency of addressing connectivity gaps and
reinforces both organizations’ dedication to leveraging telecommunications as a
catalyst for equitable development and innovation in Africa.
