The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has stressed the importance of building public confidence in digital transactions by addressing key challenges such as online scams, complex financial terms, and language barriers. Her remarks came during a meeting with the MTC Maris team on Wednesday afternoon, where discussions focused on enhancing digital financial inclusion and security.

The meeting included a presentation by MTC Maris on their newly introduced mobile-based money transfer system. Both parties explored opportunities for strategic collaboration, including potential partnerships through the Ministry’s upcoming Mega Hackathon, financial literacy initiatives, and cooperation with other government offices to integrate digital services more broadly into public service delivery.

Minister Theofelus highlighted the critical role of clear communication, user education, and robust security measures in fostering trust and encouraging the adoption of digital financial tools.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a safe, accessible, and inclusive digital economy that serves all Namibians.
