The
Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, led by Dr. 'Bosun
Tijani has hosted the Ministry of Interior, led by Honourable Minister Bunmi
Tunji-Ojo to explore ways to deepen the use of technology in delivering
government services, particularly in the area of emergency response.

The
Nigerian Communications Commission's (NCC) 112 emergency number service
solution was presented to the Minister and heads of key agencies under the
Ministry of Interior, including the Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigeria
Correctional Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Federal
Fire Service.
In a
landmark agreement, the Ministry of Interior has agreed to play an active role
in aligning all stakeholders to harmonize existing emergency numbers under the
112 platform. This collaboration between the two ministries aims to transform
the 112 number into a more efficient platform for managing emergency
communications in Nigeria.

The
harmonization of emergency numbers under the 112 platform is expected to
enhance the country's emergency response system, ensuring a more coordinated
and effective response to emergencies.
This
development is a significant step forward in the Nigerian government's efforts
to leverage technology to improve the lives of its citizens.
