Nigeria's Minister of
Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has been
appointed the Co-Chair of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
Digital Innovation Board in Geneva.
The Board was established to create
a more inclusive and equitable digital future for all, by providing strategic
guidance, expertise, and advocacy in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship
in digital development.
As the Co-Chair, Dr. Tijani will work alongside the Chair, Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director, of ITU-BDT, and
fellow Co-Chair, Neeraj Mittal, India’s Secretary of the Department of
Telecommunications. They are expected to provide strategic guidance, expertise
and advocacy for ITU’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital
Development, to achieve its objectives.

The Alliance aims to accelerate
innovation capacity and create national, regional and global linkages. The Board will advance the Alliance’s efforts on the global stage,
leading the dialogue on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in digital
development with relevant stakeholders and prospective partners, including UN
agencies, government and the private sector.
Dr. Tijani, in his official LinkedIn
post, expressed his pleasure at accepting the invitation of his fellow Board
members to serve as Co-Chair. His role will involve shaping the agenda of the
Board, as they work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable digital
future for all.
The International Telecommunication
Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and
communication technologies (ICTs). It drives innovation in ICTs together with
193 Member States and a membership of over 900 companies, universities, and
international and regional organizations.
