Kenya’s President, William Ruto has inaugurated Jitume Labs in
Meru County to leverage its pool of skilled, English-proficient IT
professionals and robust connectivity to meet the increasing global demand for
IT expertise.
The establishment of Jitume Hubs is expected to serve
as a platform for young individuals to acquire essential digital skills,
positioning them to not only thrive in the local job market but also to compete
on the global stage.

This according to the government aligns with Kenya's
commitment to becoming a prominent player in the thriving global IT landscape.
The President, accompanied by Deputy President H.E.
Rigathi Gachagua officially launched Jitume Centres for Kiiria, Karumo, and
Tigania East Technical & Vocational Institutes in Meru County.

Kenya's IT landscape has seen remarkable growth, with
a rich pool of young and skilled IT professionals. Proficiency in the English
language further positions Kenya as an attractive destination for ITES/BPO
services. Jitume Hubs, by extension, play a pivotal role in enhancing the
nation's competitiveness in the global market, with a focus on digital skills
acquisition.

One of the key outcomes of this initiative is the
active engagement of over 120,000 Kenyan youth in online work, earning an
average weekly income of KShs 10,000.
