Ghana's Vice President, Mahammud Bawumia has held bilateral
talks with President Alar Karis, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, and officials from
Estonia's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digitalization in Tallinn as part of
a working visit to Estonia. The discussions, highlighted on Vice President Dr. Bawumia's
LinkedIn platform centred on the mutual interest in digital initiatives and
the positive impact they have on both nations.

Estonia, renowned as one of the world's most digitally
advanced countries, provided a fitting backdrop for these high-level
discussions. Vice President Dr. Mahammadu Bawumia, acknowledging Ghana's success in digitalization as a shining example in Africa, stressed the shared
goals and similarities between the two nations' digital strategies.
“ Digital Ghana and e-Estonia, have
a lot in common as both digitization drives are anchored on robust national
identity systems, and Estonia’s e-Government which has brought many public
services online, is similar to Ghana’s Ghana.Gov digital platform which has
onboarded several government agencies and brought public service online,” he stated.

One notable similarity underlined during the discussions was
the rising rate of financial inclusion. Ghana's achievement through mobile
money interoperability was noted, drawing parallels to Estonia's dominance in
online banking transactions. Vice President Bawumia expressed admiration for
Estonia's digital advancements, emphasizing the inspiration drawn from their
achievements.
